Jet Diamond Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum 'sp7018')

Jet Diamond Peace Lily Plant Features

If you love variegated plants, you won't want to miss out on Jet Diamond peace lily! This newer selection is an upgrade of the old variety 'Domino' and features more stable variegation and a better growing habit. It features dark green leaves liberally streaked with silvery white. In bright light, it adds another element of beauty: It produces pure white flowers (called spathes).

Over time and with good care and conditions, Jet Diamond peace lily can grow to about 24 inches tall and wide, making it a lovely addition to bright desks and tabletops, as well as large plant cases and windowsills.

Jet Diamond peace lily won a gold award for best houseplant from the 2021 Horticultural Trades Association. It was patented by its breeder (PP33,426P3), who has granted Costa Farms exclusive rights to grow it in North America. Because this variety is being patented, propagation is prohibited. Jet Diamond Peace Lily Growing Instructions

Light
Give Jet Diamond peace lily medium to bright light for best performance. This variegated houseplant will tolerate low light conditions, but a brighter spot will help it grow and look its best (including most prominent variegation). It grows well under both natural and artificial light, so you can enjoy it in an east- or west-facing window or under a plant light. (Or, in a dimmer window with a plant light!) Do avoid placing it in a spot where it's exposed to direct sun, particularly in the afternoon hours. Too much sun can cause the leaves to develop sunburn (which on plants, unlike people, does not heal).

Water
Like other peace lily varieties, Jet Diamond is one of the thirstier houseplants. It likes to be evenly moist (think about as moist as a well-wrung sponge), but can dry out a little before its leaves start to wilt. If you see it begin to wilt, don't worry --- it recovers quickly after being watered again. That said, don't overwater your Jet Diamond Peace Lily. If the potting mix stays too wet for too long, the roots may suffocate, die, and rot.

Humidity
Jet Diamond peace lily does just fine in in typical indoor humidity. But it does prefer above-average humidity levels. If you're keeping it in an arid area, or your space has dry air (for example: there's a heater or air conditioner that runs almost constantly), consider boosting the moisture in the air by growing it under a cloche, in a terrarium or case, near a small humidifier, or grouped with other houseplants.

Fertilizing
You can fertilize this variegated houseplant as little as once or twice a year. Or if you want it to grow larger and faster, give it fertilizer more frequently. Use any general-purpose or houseplant fertilizer. Follow the directions on the fertilizer packaging and never use more fertilizer or apply it greater quantities than the instructions recommend.

Pruning
Jet Diamond peace lily needs no pruning except to remove any old leaves that have started to go yellow.

This variegated houseplant is grown for ornamental use and is not intended for human or animal consumption. We advise keeping it out of reach from children or pets that may nibble.
