1. Look for Big Leaves

Floor plants with large leaves, such as peace lily (Spathiphyllum) are perfect for giving your bathroom a touch of the tropics. Oversized foliage makes a big statement, particularly in a small space -- so one plant may be all you need to make a big difference in the look and feel of your space! 
Plant Tip: Peace lily can be an excellent choice for bathrooms because they have good tolerance to low light.

2. Utilize a windowsill

If your bathroom has a windowsill, it's a natural place for a plant. Even if you have frosted or opaque windows, your houseplant(s) will enjoy the natural light that comes in. 
Have a window, but with sills too narrow for your plants? Place a plant stand next to the window if space allows or hang a plant from the ceiling.

3. Put a Plant Next to the Sink

Countertops are another ideal place for plants, and there's a certain elegance that comes along with having a plant next to the sink (not to mention it makes it super easy to water...). Go for an especially elegant look and select a tall variety, such as ZZ plant or Phalaenopsis orchid, that can help frame your bathroom mirror.

4. Use Your Bathtub

Bathtubs that have wide edges are the perfect spots to store a plant and add lush, natural color to your space. It's easy to pop a small plant off the ledge and give it a temporary home while you, the kids, or the pets are using the tub. 

Plant Tip: Bromeliads are flowering houseplants that give a festive, tropical look your space. Like most plants, they love the extra humidity produced by your bathtub, shower, or sink. If flowers aren't your thing, consider variegated plants such as Colorful Aglaonema, Fittonia, or Cane Begonias.

5. Hang Them Up

No floor space? No problem! Trailing houseplants like Golden Pothos can hang from the ceiling, so they don't take up valuable floor space. If you want to get the feel of showing in a tropical rainforest, hang trailing plants in your shower. That way you can keep the pots from getting too wet and still enjoy their leafy look.
