Vanda orchid stand out from the crowd because it's not usually potted. Instead, you see it sold with its roots hanging down from fan-shaped foliage topped by glorious clusters of large flowers. Vanda orchid blooms in a wide range of colors, from breath-taking blues to purples, reds, pinks, oranges, and yellows. They're not the easiest orchids to grow, but they definitely make a statement in any home if you give them regular care!

Orchid, Vanda Growing Instructions

Vanda orchids like bright, but indirect light. If you grow them in a window that has a lot of sun, it's best to diffuse the sun with a sheer curtain. 

Watering vanda orchids is a little different than other types of orchids because their roots are exposed. Because they come from tropical areas with high humidity and frequent rains, it's helpful to submerge the roots in room-temperature water every couple of days. Misting the plants and their roots can also help the plants grow better. 

Providing vanda orchids with above-average humidity is important to helping them thrive. If your home's air is dry, augment it with a small humidifier near your plant.
