As they mature, each leaflet slowly becomes a rich purple-black shade. The effect is mesmerizing. While it's a beautiful houseplant, Raven® ZZ plant is also one of the easiest to grow indoors, tolerating a wide range of lighting and moisture conditions. When young, this slow-growing indoor plant is an excellent choice for desks and tabletops. With good care, it can slowly reach 4 feet more or tall over time, becoming even more dramatic with age.
Raven® was discovered in Asia in 2015 and patented by its discoverer (learn more about plant patents), who has granted us exclusive rights to propagate it in North America.

Raven® ZZ Plant Growing Instructions
LightYou can grow Raven® ZZ plant in low, medium, or bright light. In low light, it will grow much more slowly than in a brighter spot. Indoors it can take direct sun through a window in Northern areas; in Southern climates, exposure to direct afternoon sun (particularly in summer) may cause sunburn.
Tip: Like most houseplants, ZZ plants (including Raven®) aren't fussy about whether light comes from natural or artificial sources. If you don't have a bright window to grow it near, it can be perfectly happy under fluorescent or LED lights.
Water
For best growth, water Raven® ZZ plant as the top half of the potting mix dries to the touch. This plant stores moisture in its thick, potato-like rhizomes, so it can survive several weeks without watering if necessary. It may drop its leaflets and still survive. That said, take care not to overwater Raven® as it is susceptible to root rot if the potting mix stays moist or wet for extended periods. If you're in doubt about whether you should water it, you're usually better to wait.
Fertilizer
You can fertilize this houseplant in spring and summer if you would like it to grow faster. Use any general-purpose fertilizer formulated for use on houseplants, following the directions on the fertilizer packaging.
Humidity
Raven® doesn't require high humidity like some other common houseplants, but can be grown in a humid environment alongside calatheas, pothos, and arrowhead plant.
Pruning
Pruning is not required except to remove old faded leaves that have aged out.
Note: Raven® ZZ plant is grown for ornamental purposes only. Human or animal consumption is not recommended.
