Silver Dragon Alocasia (Alocasia 'Silver Dragon')
Silver Dragon Alocasia Plant Features
Silver Dragon Alocasia adds exotic beauty to your home or office! Unlike many other varieties of Alocasia (also commonly called elephant's ear), this variety stays small, making it perfect for displaying on a bright desk or tabletop.A relatively uncommon variety, it stands out because its thick green leaves have a silver overlay, giving it an elegant appearance and making it a perfect complement for other trendy plants like Moonlight Scindapsus and Baltic Blue Pothos. These thick leaves allow it to hold up better to occasional missed waterings and low humidity than other more Alocasia varieties you're more likely to see as houseplants.
Over time and with good growing conditions, Silver Dragon Alocasia can grow up to 2 feet tall, but usually stays smaller.

Silver Dragon Alocasia Growing Instructions
LightSilver Dragon Alocasia likes medium to bright indirect light, but it tolerates low light fairly well. While it will survive a low-light position, it won't grow as lush or as fast as it would in a brighter spot. It does equally well under natural light as artificial light. Like many houseplants from tropical rainforests, take care not to expose this plant to much direct afternoon sun, particularly in Southern climates and hot-summer areas. Direct sun can cause unsightly sunburn, which appears as bleached patching on the leaves.
Water
Water Silver Dragon Alocasia when the top couple of inches of the potting mix start to feel dry to the touch. It can tolerate drying out a bit if necessary, but grows best if watered evenly without periods where it stays excessively wet or dries out completely. Avoid overwatering this houseplant. Too much water on a consistent basis may make the roots suffocate, die, and rot. If you're not sure whether to water or not, it's usually better to to wait a day or two. It would rather be a bit too dry than than a bit too wet.
Humidity
Because Silver Dragon Alocasia bears thick, almost plastic-like leaves, it tolerates average relative humidity levels well and loves higher humidity conditions. In arid areas, place it near a small humidifier, in a terrarium or plant case, or group it close by other houseplants to give it a boost.
Fertilizing
Silver Dragon Alocasia doesn’t need regular feedings to stay healthy. If you'd like, fertilize it in spring or summer. Use a fertilizer formulated for houseplants or container plants. Follow the directions on the product packaging, and never use more fertilizer (in terms of quantity or frequency) than the instructions on the product’s packaging recommend.
Pruning
Silver Dragon Alocasia doesn't require any special pruning, other than to remove old leaves as they yellow. You might find that if it's happy, it produces flowers. If you feel these blossoms take away from the look of the plant, you can clip them off as they develop. Otherwise, wait until they fade and start to go brown before clipping them off.
This variety is grown for ornamental use and is not intended for human or animal consumption. We advise keeping it out of reach from children or pets that may nibble.
