Botanically known as Geogenanthus ciliatus, this unique tropical plant features big, purple-black leaves for an out-of-this-world look. It is grown and shipped fresh from our Florida farm to your home.

  • Thick, waxy leaves stand out from all other houseplants.
  • Can spread more than 24 inches wide.

Light Level: Indirect Sunlight

This plant needs to live in a room with at least some natural light. Place it on a table or countertop with windows nearby.

Water Level: Very Thirsty

This plant is a very thirsty one, check on it 2-3 times per week and add water every time the top of the soil feels dry to the touch.

Quick Tips

Like a peace lily, Geogenanthus wilts quickly when it gets dry. But don’t worry—it also perks right back up after it gets the moisture it needs.

Geogenanthus ciliatus

Hike the jungles of the Amazon rainforest and you might find this unique tropical plant. Though it looks exotic, it’s relatively easy to care for inside – just treat it like a peace lily. If it’s really happy, it may produce small, purplish blooms—they’re small and easy to miss, though. The big draw of this houseplant is its shiny, black-purple foliage.
